Some cleaning methods use foam chemicals or spotting agents which are applied to the carpet & are not rinsed out. The chemical residue that is left behind actually attracts dirt & dust & your carpets become dirty quickly. I use low residue cleaning agents which are extracted  a rinsing agent in the hot water steam extraction. My system does not leave any residue behind to attract dirt & dust.
